Salur Master Plan has been created for Salur as of 2011 Census of India; the town had a population of 49,500. Salur is located on the banks of River Vegavathi at 18.5333°N 83.2167°E. It has an average elevation of 118 meters (387 ft). It is bounded by Makkuva, Bobbili, Ramabhadrapuram and Pachipenta mandals of Andhra Pradesh state. Salur is surrounded with green forests and chain of hills on two sides and by River Vegavathi on the other two sides.
Salur or Saluru is a municipal town and Mandal headquarters in Vizianagaram district, of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Salur was a major panchayat till 1950. It was established in the year 1950 and was upgraded as grade II Municipality in 2001. The extent of Salur municipality area is 19.55 sq mi (50.6 km2).
Vision of Salur Master Plan
The objective of the Salur Master Plan is to create enabling spatial and land use planning framework to achieve the Vision of Salur Master plan in order to promote, guide and rationalize. The future growth and development of the urban centers, it will be critical to define their growth framework. The future growth framework of the urban centers is defined by the Master Plan/Development Plans which are evolved for each settlement at individual level. Salur Master Plan has been considered as one of the most effective mechanism to promote planned growth of the urban centers. It lays down the road map, agenda and framework within which the city growth is envisioned. It provides a tool for the authorities to take decision with regard to current and future development related issues.
Salur Master Plan provides the framework for rationalizing the orderly movement of traffic and transportation within the city and defines the area for laying down net-work of various services. The plan is used for promoting integrated development of the urban centre by rationalizing its pattern of land use and their interrelationship. It also defines the strategies and solutions for overcoming the existing problems of the urban centers and to overcome its infrastructural and service related inadequacies. In addition, it provides options for accommodating the future addition to population which is likely to come to the urban centre due to natural growth and migration. Master Plan acts as a tool for determining the infrastructure cost which would be required to make the city sustainable. The plans offer futuristic solutions by laying down agenda for its growth and development.
