5% Reservation For Disabled In Allotment Of Agricultural Land & Housing Scheme
Directorate of social welfare issued circular to all head of departments/public sector undertakings of cooperation to comply 5% reservation for disabled in allotment of agricultural land and relevant housing schemes, development programmes with appropriate priority to women with benchmark disabilities.
Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, states that provision of 5% reservation should be made in allotment of land on concessional rate, where such land is to be used for the purpose of promoting housing, setting up of occupation, shelter, enterprise, business, recreation and production centres.
Act also states that the government and local authorities should through notification, make schemes in favour of persons with benchmark disabilities and provide 5% reservation in all poverty alleviation and development schemes with priority to women.
People have started applying online for Unique Disabilities Identification Card (UDID) with personal information, ID Proof, address on http://www.swavlambancard.gov.in/.
The UDID card will be a single document that can be used nationally for identification and verification of disabled for availing benefits.
It will also ensure online availability of data on persons with disabilities across the country through a centralized web application and is expected to eliminate duplication of data.
