MDDA Planning To Rehabilitate 300 Families Along Rispana

Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) is planning to rehabilitate around 300 families along rivulet Rispana on a pilot basis as part of its riverfront development project. The houses will be built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Officials have issued a notice inviting Expression of Interest (EOI) for the implementation of the project. Vice-chairperson of MDDA, said, they have invited sealed EOI from interested PSUs till March 19. While the beneficiaries will have to bear around Rs 4.5 lakh, the remaining cost will be covered under PMAY and by other agencies including MDDA. As part of the pilot project, around 300 families along Rispana will be rehabilitated. Based on the feedback, we will consider similar projects in the future.

Estimated cost and deadline for the project have not been decided yet. At present, we are trying to expedite the pilot project so that we can replicate it along other rivers at the earliest, said the official.

The much anticipated 30 km long riverfront project, on the lines of Ahmedabad Sabarmati riverfront project would connect Rispana and Bindal with a focus on the rejuvenation of the rivulets and rehabilitation of slum-dwellers.
