Kashipur Master Plan 2011 has been created for Kashipur. Kashipur is a city of Udham Singh Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and one of its seven subdivisions. Located in the eastern part of Udham Singh Nagar district, it is Kumaun’s third most populous city and the sixth most populous in Uttarakhand. According to the 2011 Census of India, the population is 121,623 for the city of Kashipur and 283,136 for Kashipur Tehsil. At 29.22°N 78.95°E and 180 Kilometres northwest of New Delhi, Kashipur is located in the south-west of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand in the Terai – an area of relatively low-lying land, ranging between 500 and 1,000 feet (150 and 300 metres) above sea level and crossed by Kumaun’s main north-south watershed between the basins of the Rivers Ramganga and Kosi. To the north of the city lies the Bhabar tract of Ramnagar, which separates the area from Shivalik Hills.
Vision of Kashipur Master Plan 2011
The objective of the Kashipur Master Plan 2011 is to create enabling spatial and land use planning framework to achieve the vision of Kashipur Master Plan 2011 in order to promote, guide and rationalize. The future growth and development of the urban centres, it will be critical to define their growth framework. The future growth framework of the urban centres is defined by the Master Plan/Development Plans which are evolved for each settlement at individual level Kashipur Master Plan 2011 has been considered as one of the most effective mechanism to promote planned growth of the urban centres. It lays down the road map, agenda and framework within which the city growth is envisioned. It provides a tool for the authorities to take decision will regard to current and future development related issues.
Kashipur Master Plan 2011 provides the framework for rationalizing the orderly movement of traffic and transportation within the city and defines the area for laying down network of various services. The plan is used for promoting integrated development of the urban centre by rationalizing its pattern of land use and their relationship. It also defines the strategies and solutions for overcoming the existing problems of the urban centres and to overcome its infrastructural and service related inadequacies. In addition, it provides options for accommodating the future addition to population which is likely to come to the urban centre due to natural growth and migration. Master Plan acts as a tool for determining the infrastructure cost which would be required to make the city sustainable. The plans offer futuristic solutions by laying down agenda for its growth and development.
